PICKERING -- Durham Sustain Ability is challenging others to follow a local business owner's lead in trying to make his building eco-friendly.
Neil Samson's business, Monarch Kitchen and Bath Centre, is located at the Cumbay Building near Brock Road and Bayly Street. He and his staff are working with neighbouring businesses to remove the dumpsters that handle solid waste on the way to landfill.
"This is the case, even though 60 per cent of the solid waste in Ajax, Pickering or Durham is from businesses," he said in a press release. "There are no easy options for local businesses who want to adopt new 3Rs (reduce, reuse and recycle) practices, although Durham Region staff and groups like us are glad to provide guidance."
