Simple steps, bright future:
Business and the
environment together.
Ever wondered how to apply caulking without making a mess? Do you have questions about where to air seal, high efficiency equipment, compact fluorescent bulbs, solar water heating and other new devices designed to save energy and reduce your home's impact on our planet's climate? Worried about making your home "too tight" in the name of energy efficiency? All of these issues and many more will be addressed at our energy efficiency Lunch ‘n' Learns.
People can play a valuable role in managing energy costs. A recent study indicated that 70% of business energy savings is achieved from people and 30% from technology.
In fact, any education you can give your employees on energy conservation can have a positive impact on your bottom line. There is well documented research of the knowledge transfer from home to work place behaviors. We’ll help you overcome the challenges and identify the opportunities for achieving energy conservation and waste reduction in your workplace.
Good decisions start with good information. Of course, Durham Sustain Ability will also provide tools and resources to incorporate conservation actions at home and at work.
A Lunch ‘n’ Learn is an educational event for your employees scheduled over the lunch hour. It is an informal way to present timely education topics. Employees can bring their lunch, however, providing lunch can be an incentive to attract your employees.
Taking the time to get the word out can be the difference between a huge success and mediocrity. Give plenty of notice. To attract your employees, you might consider a draw for a $25 gift card for a local restaurant, movie tickets, baseball tickets, etc. It does not have to be expensive, just enough to generate interest.
If space is limited, you may consider a sign-up sheet. You could include a column for their ideas/questions they hope to hear addressed. If these questions are provided to Durham Sustain Ability a few days before, the speaker will attempt to address them. If necessary, the speaker can address specific questions related to an employee’s home through email after the event.
Contact us and we will arrange a convenient time to visit your organization to conduct an interactive and informative workshop.
DURHAM -- If the greenest part of a company is the front lawn in the summer, business owners may want to find other ways to be a friend to the planet.
That's why Durham Sustain Ability held a Green Business Trade Show in March. The day included seminars to show companies how to reduce their impact on the earth.
It can also put more green in business owner's pockets, executive director of Sustain Ability Shawna Mutton said.
"I think that right now, especially during these economic times, doing more with less makes sense," she said. "It's not just good for the environment, it's good for the bottom line."
